NACC 200 NOTABLES:
1] John Gillis, who records as Jack White, is a Detroit native who has enjoyed tremendous success in his career. He’s a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee with The White Stripes. He’s won 12 Grammy Awards. Rolling Stone ranked him as one of the Top 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. Here at College & Non-Comm Radio, he’s had incredible success too. In just the last decade, he’s visited the NACC Top 10 four times (once with The Raconteurs, and now three times as a solo artist). But his latest effort, Frozen Charlotte, does something his past two solo efforts did not do: go to #1. The album rises from #2 this week. It also spends a second week atop NACC NEXT and NACC Non-Comm.
2] An incredible eight new albums reach the Top 20 of the NACC 200 this week, with two reaching the Top 10. Making the biggest move into the top tier is last week’s biggest climber (of not just the week but the year) from Panda Bear And Sonic Boom. Their second collaborative album, A ? Of When, zips ahead 22-9 on the chart. They also jump into the Top 10 on both the NACC NEXT (21-6) and NACC Non-Comm (25-8) Charts.
3] Also reaching the Top 10 this week is British trio Mary In The Junkyard. Two of the members met at a classical music summer camp when they were 14. The band formed in 2022 and released their debut EP, This Old House, in 2024. Now their debut LP, Role Model Hermit, has given us our first chance to feature them here as they race ahead 11-5 to score their first Top 10 NACC 200-peaking album.
4] After scoring last week’s most-added album, we noted to expect a “pretty hefty” climb for Australian quartet Swapmeet this week. And they did not make fools of us. We can do that all on our own, thank you very much! Their debut LP, Mount Zero, explodes ahead on the NACC 200 this week, leaping from 167-14, the fifth biggest climb this year.
5] This week’s race for most-added album was an extremely close one. In the end, Houston, TX native Sir Taegen Harris, who records as Love Spells, took the crown, besting Ian Sweet by just one add. Harris broke through last year with his EP, The Love I Showed You Was Yours To Keep. Artist Kevin Abstract became his mentor and featured Harris on 10 of the 19 tracks on his album Blush. Now Love Spells’ debut LP, Love Is The Law, gives him the #1 NACC Add.
GENRE CHART HIGHLIGHTS:
1] Phoebe Bridgers is creating some serious waves with her new single, “Lost Boys.” She spends a third week atop the NACC Singles Chart this week with more than 2 1/2 times the lead over the #2 single. And she rises 9-7 on the NACC 200, which ties her for the third-highest peaking single ever on that chart. The song will appear on her upcoming third LP, Lost Weekend, due August 14.
2] Vince Staples breaks the tie he was in with Danny Brown and Thundercat last week for the most weeks spent atop the NACC Hip Hop Chart this year (5). His album, Cry Baby, now spends a sixth week at #1, giving him that title all to himself.
4] Emmet Cohen rebounds to #1 on NACC Jazz for a sixth week on top with his album, Universal Truth. In doing so, he ties Dave Stryker for the most weeks spent at #1 on NACC Jazz in 2026.
5] Boards Of Canada extends their year-best run atop NACC Electronic this week with Inferno, their first album in 13 years. The album logs a sixth week at #1, giving them a two-week lead on Drama for the longest stay the chart has seen in 2026.
