Beabadoobee enjoys a second week at #1 with third studio album

Beabadoobee rose to #1 last week and scored her second NACC 200 chart topper. This week she does her previous 2020 release one better by doubling its time on top and enjoying a second week at #1 with her third studio album, This Is How Tomorrow Moves (Dirty Hit). She nearly triples her point total gap from last week between herself and Clairo, the previous holder of the top spot who stays at #2 this week. Her next closest competitor for the top spot remains Jack White, but he doesn’t gain any ground on her this week. We’ll see where things go next week. Watch this space.

Like last week, just one album reaches the NACC Top 10. It comes from Irish quintet Fontaines DC. The Dublin band’s fourth LP, Romance (XL), rises to #9 on the NACC 200 after debuting at #11 and keeps them a perfect four-for-four with NACC Top 10-appearances. They also rise to #1 from #4 on the NACC Non-Comm Chart. The band will be coming stateside soon for a fall tour that kicks off September 20 in Seattle and ends October 15 in New York City.

Making the biggest move into the NACC Top 20 this week (and the third biggest overall climb on the NACC 200) is Illuminati Hotties. They’re off to a very hot start after scoring last week’s most-added album. The LA band are now just one step away from scoring their third NACC Top 10-peaking album with Power (Snack Shack Tracks/Hopeless). The album soars from 101-11 on the NACC 200 this week.

The chart’s biggest overall climb gives us our very first opportunity to feature Brooklyn five-piece Gift. The band formed in 2020 when lead singer TJ Freda decided to try to assemble his band by cherry-picking members from some of his favorite other bands, They released their debut album, Momentary Presence, in 2022. They are now signed to Captured Tracks and have just released their sophomore LP, Illuminator. They leap from 190-34 on the NACC 200 this week, one of the Top-10-biggest climbs of the entire year.

This week’s most-added album comes from legendary Australian band Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds. The six-member outfit formed in Melbourne in 1983. Wild Gods (Play It Again Sam) is their 18th studio album and first since 2019’s Ghosteen. The album has immediately been praised by critics and is the third best-reviewed of the year according to Metacritic. With 67 Top 10 adds and an early Top 5 highest debut at #83, it certainly stands to reason that Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds will be Top 10 here again soon.

Soccer Mommy secures a third straight week at #1 on the NACC Singles Chart with “M,” the second advance single from her upcoming fourth LP, Evergreen, which arrives October 25. Just two singles reach the NACC 200 Top 30 Adds this week out of the 36 that went for adds. Tops among them is “Crystal Breath,” the second track released from Pixies and Breeders member Kim Deal. Remarkably, after nearly 40 years of making music, her very first solo album, Nobody Loves You More, will be released November 22. Coming in just one add behind her is Faux Real.
