Beabadoobee soars 8-1 to score her second NACC 200 #1

Beatrice Laus, who records as Beabadoobee, did not come to play. After reaching the Top 10 with her second LP in 2022, but not reaching #1 (as her debut studio album did in 2020), she was already on the NACC 200 with this album before her add date. Last week she scored her fourth Top 10 on the chart (the same week she went for adds), but held just 37% of the points last week’s #1 album from Clairo had. That gap made no difference this week though as she soars 8-1 to score her second NACC 200 #1 with This Is How Tomorrow Moves (Dirty Hit). The album also rises 4-1 in NACC NEXT and is knocking on the door of the penthouse at NACC Non-Comm too, up 7-2 this week.

Just one album reaches the NACC Top 10 this week, but it’s a hefty move. Indianapolis quintet Wishy released two EPs in 2023. One of them gave us our first opportunity to feature the band when it scored the biggest climb on the NACC 200 the first chart week of 2024. Their debut LP is now here and does that EP one better by scoring the band their first Top 10-peaking album on the chart. Triple Seven (Winspear) jumps 81-10 on the NACC 200 this week. This is not the first Top 10-peaking album for all the members of the band though. One of Wishy’s singers, Kevin Krauter, was a member of the now-defunct Hoops, who reached the Top 10 in 2017.

Two albums make splashy debuts on the NACC 200 this week. Both are among two of the eight highest debuts on the chart for all of 2024. The first is from Irish five-piece Fontaines DC. The Dublin-based band formed in 2014 and have released four studio albums. Their latest is called Romance (their first on XL) and explodes onto the NACC 200 at #11 this week. All three of their previous albums have reached the NACC Top 10 including a #1 peak in 2022 for their second album, A Hero’s Death. We can’t really imagine a scenario where they won’t be claiming their fourth straight Top 10 next week, but time will tell!

The other album blowing onto the NACC 200 in a big way is Boston trio Horse Jumper Of Love. The group came together in 2013 and along the way have put out five LPs. The four most recent have been released on Run For Cover including their latest, Disaster Trick. This is actually the first time we’ve had an opportunity to feature the band on our Wednesday NACC Chart Recap. They jump aboard the chart at #13 this week, which means a climb of just three steps will give them their first Top 10 album.

This week’s most-added album comes from Illuminati Hotties. The Los Angeles-based band was created by and is fronted by producer, mixer, and audio engineer Sarah Tudzin. Coming together in 2017, Illuminati Hotties released their debut LP the following year and hit our Top 10 for the first time in 2020 with a mixtape they made to fulfill a contractual agreement with their initial label. Their second LP, Let Me Do One More, gave them another trip to the Top 10. And their latest effort, Power (Snack Shack Tracks/Hopeless) is certainly off to a strong start too, collecting more Top 10 Adds than anyone else this week and debuting on the NACC 200 at #101.

Soccer Mommy holds down the #1 spot on the NACC Singles Chart for a second week with “M,” the second advance single from her upcoming fourth LP, Evergreen, due October 25. Meanwhile, Sabrina Teitelbaum, who records as Blondshell, enjoys the most-added single of the week with “What’s Fair.” After a debut LP last year and a contribution to A24’s Everyone’s Getting Involved earlier this year, this new song (which has already become a live fan-favorite) becomes the only single (of the 49 going for adds this week) to land on the NACC 200 Top 30 Adds Chart this week.
