Did Dry Cleaning Punch Their Ticket For a 2nd Week at #1

NACC 200 NOTABLES:

1] English quartet Dry Cleaning holds down the top spot on the NACC 200 for a second week with their third studio album, Secret Love. All three albums have reached the Top 10 of our flagship chart, but Secret Love is the first to reach #1. The album also holds a second week at the top of the NACC NEXT Chart and rises 3-2 on NACC Non-Comm.

2] Making the biggest move into the top tier this week is another English musician, Arlo Parks. The first single from her forthcoming third LP, Ambiguous Desire, is called “2Sided” and soars from 42-7 on the NACC 200. Only four singles have ever reached the NACC 200’s Top 10, and Arlo Parks owns two of them (the only artist ever to have more than one). She also has the two highest-peaking of those four, with her single “Weightless” reaching #4 in 2023.

3] The NACC 200’s biggest climb this week goes to Mitski (born Mitsuki Laycock). Like Arlo Parks, she is one of the most beloved artists the NACC 200 has seen. Both have multiple #1 albums, have two of the longest-running #1s the NACC 200 has seen, and are the two musicians who have spent the most time at #1 overall. Mitski’s upcoming eighth album, Nothing’s About To Happen To Me, has been teased with her new single, “Where’s My Phone?” The song leaps from 135-13 this week.

4] Making the highest debut on the NACC 200 is the English quartet Westside Cowboy. Formed in 2023, the band has just released their second EP and major label debut, So Much Country ‘Til We Get There. The five-song release jumps aboard the chart this week at #34 and earns the band its first Weekly NACC Chart Recap feature.

5] For only the second time ever, NACC’s most-added record this week is a single. This first happened in 2023 when, you guessed it, Arlo Parks took the top spot with the aforementioned “Weightless.” Now, English quartet Arctic Monkeys have done it with their new single “Opening Night.” They also debut at #28 on the NACC Singles Chart. The song will be found on the War Child charity album, Help(2).

GENRE CHART HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

1] Four genre charts see huge jumps to #1 this week. Heavy metal legends Megadeth soar 12-1 on NACC Heavy with their self-titled 17th and final album. Jazz troubadour Dave Stryker jumps 14-1 on NACC Jazz with his 34th album as a leader, Blue Fire: The Van Gelder Session. Courtney Marie Andrews leaps 16-1 on NACC Folk with her ninth album, Valentine. And Icelandic musician Ólöf Arnalds jumps 17-1 at NACC Chill with her first album in over a decade, Spíra.

2] As we see these huge moves with four new albums jumping to the top of several charts, we simultaneously see four other albums return to #1 on their respective charts. Gospel & Soul icon Mavis Staples is back atop NACC Non-Comm. The final Amadou & Marium album returns to #1 at NACC World for a second time (and fifth week overall). Helene Barbier moves back to the top of NACC Canadian. And Sudan Archives are back atop NACC Electronic as well.

3] All of this action doesn’t move our tally of charts that have had new #1s in the new year. We stand firm with five of NACC’s 15 charts not having seen a new chart-topper in 2026. NACC R&B/Soul, Blues, Hip Hop, World, and Non-Comm have yet to see a fresh #1. We’ll see if February can change that.
