NACC 200 NOTABLES:
1] Jack White enjoys a third week at #1 on the NACC 200 this week with his seventh solo album, Frozen Charlotte. His lead over the rest of the chart remains substantial. History has shown that sort of lead can evaporate quickly, but for now, this is definitely a comfortable one. He also grabs a fourth week at #1 on NACC NEXT, which places him just one week away from tying Death Cab For Cutie, Ratboys, and Dry Cleaning for the longest run atop the chart this year.
2] There are technically no new entries inside the NACC 200’s Top 10 this week, yet two albums do climb into the Top 10. How is that possible, you ask? Well, both of these albums have already been in the Top 10. That’s why, silly! Panda Bear & Sonic Boom leapt 22-9 two weeks ago with their second collaborative album, A ? Of When. After perhaps a little surprisingly dipping 9-13 last week, the album corrects in a big way this week, leaping ahead 13-5. Also rising back into the Top 10 is Kelela. After dipping from her #4 peak to #11 last week, she bounces back out 11-9 with her third studio album, New Avatar.
3] Enjoying this week’s highest debut on the NACC 200 is UK band The Durutti Column. The band’s origins date back to 1978. Vini Reilly is the founder, guitarist, and primary creative force behind the band. Over nearly 50 years, they have released 28 albums, including their first all-new material since 2010, Renascent. By debuting at #29 on the chart this week, we were given our first opportunity to feature them in our Weekly NACC Chart Recap.
4] NYC five-piece Slow Fiction has bested all new releases this week and grabs ‘most-added’ honors with their debut LP, Dollhouse. Formed about five years ago in the East Village, the band released its debut self-titled EP in 2023. Their first full-length effort collected 48 Top 10 Adds this week, leading us to believe a splashy NACC 200 debut might occur next week.
GENRE CHART HIGHLIGHTS:
1] Phoebe Bridgers moves into a tie with Arlo Parks this week for the second-longest run atop NACC Singles this year. Her latest single, “Lost Boys,” locks it in for a fifth straight week at #1. She’d need three more weeks on top to tie Death Cab For Cutie for the longest stay this year, but we can unequivocally say that won’t happen. Her third LP, Lost Weekend, comes out on Friday, so this will be the last week this song is eligible for inclusion on NACC Singles.
2] Boards Of Canada has now doubled the lead of any other #1 the NACC Electronic Chart has seen this year. Their fifth album, Inferno, pulls down an eighth week on top. That also ties them for the most weeks any artist has spent at #1 on any NACC Chart this year. Vince Staples reaches that milestone as well at NACC Hip Hop this week.
3] Liminal Drifter takes over the lead all to himself for the longest #1 run the NACC Chill Chart has seen this year. His sixth album, Cowboy Pilgrim, enjoys a seventh #1 slot this week.
4] Heavy metal legends Judas Priest have risen to #1 on NACC Heavy. Begun in 1969, yes, 1969 (!), the band technically has no original members, but three current members date back to the 70s. They’ve released 19 studio albums. Their seventh compilation album, The Best of Judas Priest, rises 3-1 this week.
