The battle for #1 has been fierce these last two weeks. Andrew Bird came out on top last week soaring 16-1, leapfrogging Karen O & Danger Mouse (who climbed impressively in their own right with a 9-2 jump). But this week it’s the Yeah Yeah Yeahs lead singer and super-producer who can’t be stopped as they rise 2-1 with their BMG release, Lux Prima, an album whose gestation dates all the way back to 2008 when the two first talked of collaborating. The pair are hosting a ‘multi-sensory art installation’ April 18-21 in Los Angeles called “An Encounter With Lux Prima.”

Wasting no time advancing into the NACC Top 10 this week is last week’s most-added record from Weyes Blood, the brainchild of Santa Monica native Natalie Mering. After debuting on the NACC 200 last week at #118, her fourth studio album, Titanic Rising (her first on Sub Pop), leaps to #8. Two other artists reach the NACC Top 10 this week. Ex Hex, led by Mary Timony, climbs 12-10 with the band’s second LP and child/teen actress turned indie music darling Jenny Lewis jumps 23-6 with her fourth solo LP.

Jumping aboard the NACC 200 at #25 this week is Los Angeles musician Chris Cohen. This self-titled LP is his third solo release (all put out on Captured Tracks). Before using his own name for recording, Cohen put out music as The Curtains (a band he shared with other musicians but which he was the primary member) as well as being a member of Deerhoof from 2002-2006 and playing with Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti and Cass McCombs, among others.

The biggest jump on the NACC 200 this week marks only the fourth time a single has been the chart’s fastest mover. Interpol, Bob Moses, & Broken Bells have all accomplished this feat, and now another band joins their ranks. Modest Mouse are back with “Poison The Well,” which jumps 178-50. It’s the band’s first new music since 2015’s Strangers To Ourselves LP. Formed in 1992, Isaac Brock is the only member who has been a part of the band from its inception, though drummer Jeremiah Green comes close with only one year off in 2003.

Taking most-added honors this week is Los Angeles-based Shana Cleveland, better known as the lead singer of La Luz. Last year La Luz had a most-added record of their own (Floating Features) and also were featured here in our NACC Chart Recap when their album scored the biggest climb into the NACC Top 10. Cleveland is taking a moment away from her band to release her first completely solo album, Night Of The Worm Moon, though she also put out an album in 2015 as Shana Cleveland and the Sandcastles. Her Hardly Art release collects 86 Top 10 Adds this week.

Tame Impala spend a second week at #1 on the NACC Singles Chart with “Patience.” The song nearly reaches the overall Top 20 of the NACC 200 this week rising 33-21. Singer and actress Sky Ferreira returns with her first new music in five years: “Downhill Lullaby.” It’s the most-added new single of the week.

You can find the Top 20 of the NACC 200, the Top 5 of the NACC Adds Chart, and all of this week’s #1 genre releases and most-added genre records below. For the first time we can recall, there are no new #1s on any of our genre charts.
