Snocaps Looks to Remain the Only No. 1 of 2026 So Far

NACC 200 NOTABLES:

1] This second week of January always sees a huge influx of reporters versus the first week of the year, so 19 of the Top 20 albums are gaining in points this week. We’ll see a lot of movement in the top 10% of the chart with six new albums reaching the Top 20. It’s interesting to see some of the long-running and biggest records of 2025 making waves as well. That should begin to change next week.

2] Holding firm at #1 on the NACC 200 for a fifth straight week is Snocaps. Their surprise debut self-titled album immediately made waves on our charts. And given the pedigree with multiple members having earned a #1 previously, that’s no surprise. The album shows it has some real life in it this week as it also returns to #1 on the NACC NEXT and NACC Non-Comm Charts.

3] Two new albums reach the Top 10 this week. Top among them is producer and composer Daniel Lopatin, who records as Oneohtrix Point Never. The Boston-born, Brooklyn-based artist jumps 29-7 with his eleventh studio album, Tranquilizer. It’s his first to reach the NACC 200’s Top 10. It also tops the NACC Electronic Chart this week, up 2-1. Sword II also climbs into the top tier, up 12-8. Wet Leg rebounds into the Top 10 with the NACC 200’s biggest album of 2025, up 14-9.

4] Making both the highest debut on the NACC 200 this week and scoring ‘most-added’ honors is Dry Cleaning. Champions of proper care for delicate fabrics since 2017, the quartet soars onto the NACC 200 at #25 while also collecting an impressive 75 Top 10 adds with their third LP, Secret Love. They look on track to score their third NACC Top 10 in as many tries with this opening salvo.

5] This week’s biggest climber on the NACC 200 is Dearborn, MI, five-piece, Prostitute. Co-founded by vocalist Moe Kazra and drummer Andrew Kaster in 2020, the band’s debut LP, Attempted Martyr, was released in October of last year but is now getting a renewed push as the band signed to Mute Records in December. They soar 174-34 on the NACC 200, the biggest climb so far in the early weeks of 2026.

GENRE CHART HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

1] Courtney Barnett spent six weeks at #1 on the NACC Singles Chart in 2025 (the second-most weeks of any chart-topper there) and is keeping things going here in 2026 as well. Her song, “Stay In Your Lane,” holds at #1 after rebounding to the top last week for what is her eighth cumulative week on top.

2] Enjoying a rare #1 debut on the NACC Jazz Chart this week is the Nat Adderley Jr Trio. The group’s album, Took So Long, becomes the first album to debut atop any NACC Chart this year. Fun fact: Adderley was the music director for Luther Vandross’s tours and has a co-writing song credit on most of Vandross’s albums.

3] Seven of NACC’s 15 charts have now seen a brand new #1 in these first two weeks of the new year as Drain rises to #1 on NACC Heavy and Julianna Barwick & Mary Lattimore rise to the top of NACC Chill to go along with the aforementioned Nat Adderley Jr Trio reaching the top at NACC Jazz and Oneohtrix Point Never topping NACC Electronic.
