As we mentioned last week, one artist (Father John Misty) occupied the #1 spot for the first five weeks of 2025, but it’s been a completely different story since then! The subsequent five weeks of the year have gifted us with a new #1 album every single frame. Franz Ferdinand, Mogwai, FKA Twigs, and Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory have all grabbed a single week on top. And that trend continues this week with Saya Gray. The Toronto musician’s second studio album, SAYA (Dirty Hit), has made quick work of the NACC 200, soaring 76-5 last week and zipping 5-1 this week to score her first chart-topper. She also climbs 3-1 at NACC Canadian and is a heartbeat away from the top at both NACC Non-Comm (rising 7-2) and NACC NEXT (debuting at #2). She also leads a NACC Top 10 that is made up completely of 2025 releases for the first time this year.
Three albums reach the NACC Top 10 this week, and making the biggest move into the top tier is Seattle quartet Deep Sea Diver. Led by Jessica Dobson, who (fun fact) was briefly a member of The Shins, the band formed in 2007 and has released four LPs, including their latest, Billboard Heart (Sub Pop). The album came in just one spot below Panda Bear last week, who had the highest debut on the NACC 200. Billboard Heart’s 47-6 leap this week moves them just around Panda Bear allowing us our first opportunity to feature the band!
Speaking of Panda Bear, the eighth studio album from Noah Lennox (who was primarily raised in Baltimore and uses the Panda Bear name to record under) is no shrinking violet on the chart either this week. The Virginia native has been making music professionally since 1998. And his latest effort, Sinister Grift (Domino), scores him his third NACC 200 Top 10 following 2019’s Buoys and 2022’s collaboration album with Sonic Boom, called Reset. He races ahead 46-7 on the chart this week. He’s also up 13-3 at NACC Non-Comm and debuts at #13 on NACC NEXT.
Our final new entry into the NACC Top 10 this week comes from Youth Lagoon. Another solo musician who records under a moniker, the Youth Lagoon name belongs to Boise, ID-raised Trevor Powers. Since 2010, Powers has released seven LPs (two as Trevor Powers and five as Youth Lagoon). His latest is called Rarely Do I Dream (Fat Possum). It follows 2023’s Heaven Is A Junkyard, which scored a NACC 200 biggest climb at the time, but failed to make the Top 10. This week that slight is remedied as he rises 12-8 to enjoy his first time in our top tier.
Boston trio Vundabar are back on the scene. The band first came together in 2012 when members Brandon Hagen and Drew McDonald (who were in a high school band together called No Nada) needed to start fresh when multiple members of their band left to go to college. Vundabar began as just the two but grew to a trio when McDonald met bassist Zack Abramo at university. Six albums came along the way, including their latest, Surgery And Pleasure (Loma Vista/Concord). The album sneaks onto the NACC 200 at #194 this week so expect some flashy movement next week!
Eau Claire, Wi six-piece Bon Iver rises 4-1 on the NACC Singles Chart this week with “Everything Is Peaceful Love.” After releasing part of their upcoming fifth LP, SABLE, fABLE, as an EP (SABLE,) last year, this song leads the rest of that album, arriving April 11. Three of this week’s 59 officially adding singles crack the NACC 200 Top 30 Adds Chart. Tops among them is Toronto trio Jade The Moon. Their self-released single, “Dirty John Type,” takes top ‘single-adding’ honors this week. Also reaching the chart are new songs from Car Seat Headrest and Yuno.
