The Beths Pad Their Lead at #1 with “Straight Line Was a Lie”

NACC 200 NOTABLES:

1] New Zealand quartet The Beths leapt from 11-1 last week with their fourth LP, Straight Line Was A Lie, and this week the album begins to pad its lead at #1, putting nearly nine times as many points between them and the #2 album as last week. They also rise to #1 on the NACC NEXT Chart, up 2-1. This album becomes the second of their three chart toppers to spend more than one week at #1 on the NACC 200. If they can stay at #1 next week, they’ll tie their previous album (2022’s Expert In A Dying Field) for the most weeks any of their albums have spent on top.

2] Last week’s biggest climber on the NACC 200 keeps the momentum going this time around as well. Longtime Paramore lead singer, Hayley Williams, leaps from 30-7 this week with her third solo effort, Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party. It becomes her second Top 10-peaking album on the chart. She enjoyed a previous top 10 berth with Paramore’s most recent LP, 2023’s This Is Why. Williams also reaches the Top 10 on NACC NEXT, rising 17-10.

3] Also rising into the NACC 200’s Top 10 this week is Montreal-based quartet TOPS. Formed in 2011, the band has released five studio albums, including their latest, Bury The Key. They rose 17-9 this week to score their second Top 10 album. They were most recently in the top tier in 2020 with their previous LP, I Feel Alive.

4] This week’s biggest climber on the NACC 200 belongs to London quintet Hot Chip. This year marks their 25th together, and after eight albums, they have released a Best Of collection entitled Joy In Repetition. The retrospective includes one new song called “Devotion.” This is our third time featuring the band in our NACC Weekly Chart Recap, including a 2019 Top 10 entry and a 2022 highest debut. Their album debuts at #19 on the NACC Electronic Chart this week.

5] Two bands tie for Most-Added honors on the NACC 200 Top 30 Adds Chart this week on what is one of the most spread-out add weeks we’ve ever seen, especially at this time of year. Both collecting 37 Top 10 Adds were Oxford, MS trio Bass Drum Of Death with their sixth LP, appropriately titled Six, and St. Louis, MO duo Frost Children with their sixth album, Sister.

GENRE CHART HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK
