NACC 200 NOTABLES:
1] Kiwi quartet The Beths enjoys a third straight week atop the NACC 200 this week with their fourth LP, Straight Line Was A Lie. In doing so, it ties their previous album, 2022’s Expert In A Dying Field, as the longest-running of their three NACC 200 chart toppers. The seven cumulative weeks their three albums have spent at #1 moves them into a tie with Courtney Barnett, Wilco, and Clairo on the all-time list of weeks spent on top of the NACC 200. All four artists sit tied at #15 on that list.
2] Making the biggest move into the Top 10 this week is Swedish five-piece, The Hives. Their seventh LP, The Hives Forever Forever The Hives, leaps from 22-10 to give them their second straight Top 10-peaking NACC 200 album. Their previous release, The Death Of Randy Fitzsimmons, reached #3 in the NACC 200 (and #1 on NACC NEXT) in 2023. They bested Wednesday by just three points to reach the Top 10, so it was a hard-fought and hard-won battle to secure a spot in the top tier.
3] Speaking of Wednesday, the ‘hump day’-loving band formed in Asheville, NC in 2017 and has released six studio albums, including their latest effort, Bleeds. The album explodes onto the NACC 200 at #11 this week while simultaneously scoring ‘most-added’ honors. The album garnered 89 Top 10 Adds, the most of 2025 and the most since early November of last year, when The Cure also secured 89 adds — so they are certainly situated quite well as they seek their second #1 on the NACC 200. Their previous album, Rat Saw God, spent four weeks on top in 2023.
4] Two more albums reach the Top 10 of the NACC 200 this week. Legendary Talking Heads frontman and Rock And Roll Hall of Fame inductee David Byrne rises 14-7 with his 11th album away from the band and his 19th album overall, Who Is The Sky?, which he recorded with Ghost Train Orchestra. Incredibly, this is our first opportunity to feature him on our NACC Weekly Chart Recap. Also reaching the Top 10 is Samira Winter, who records simply as Winter. The Brazilian-born, Los Angeles-residing musician’s fifth album, Adult Romantix, rises 12-8, giving her her first mention here as it rises 12-8.
5] The biggest move on the NACC 200 this week belongs to Frost Children. Tied for the most-added album last week with Bass Drum Of Death (who, by the way, debuts at #24 this week), the St. Louis-based sibling duo of Angel and Lulu Prost leaps from 158-33 with their appropriately titled sixth album, Sister.
GENRE CHART HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK
1] English duo Wet Leg may have seemed to close the book on mentions here with their second album, moisturizer, falling from #1 on multiple charts, but they still have one more trick up their sleeve. They rebound to #1 on NACC NEXT this week after one week away. This rebound gives them a huge milestone on the chart — a 10th week on top. They become just the second artist to reach double-digit weeks ever on NACC NEXT. As we mentioned two weeks ago, Alvvays spent 12 weeks on top in 2021.
2] Adrian Quesada spends a seventh week at #1 on NACC World with Boleros Psicodélicos II, moving him into a three-way tie for the longest run on top this chart has seen in 2025. He ties Femi Kuti and Songhoy Blues, and he’ll aim to take that title all to himself next week.
3] With spooky season upon us, Halloween moves into a tie with Cradle Of Filth for the second-longest run atop NACC Heavy in 2025. Their 17th album, Giants & Monsters, will need to land two more weeks at #1 to tie Dream Theater, who spent six weeks at #1 in February and March.
