Wednesday Records Highest #1 Point Total Since Mid-August

NACC 200 NOTABLES:

1] Asheville five-piece Wednesday enjoys a second week at #1 on the NACC 200 with their sixth LP, Bleeds. They continue to gain points on the chart from last week and now have the highest #1 point total since mid-August. They also rose from 3-1 on NACC NEXT.

2] Wednesday did have a surprising challenger for #1 this week. Not that the band and album aren’t deserving. We just didn’t expect them to challenge for #1 quite so soon. After scoring most-added honors last week (and fresh off their appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!), the Brooklyn-based quartet Geese flies up the NACC 200 from #30 to #2. And they close the gap on Wednesday by an impressive margin. If they keep this momentum going next week, they could easily see their fourth album, Getting Killed, become their first NACC 200 chart-topper.

3] Two other albums find themselves reaching the Top 10 this week in addition to Geese. Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy sees his fifth solo LP, Twilight Override, sail from 18-6 on the NACC 200. The album also debuts at #12 on NACC NEXT and rises 8 – 2 at NACC Non-Comm. He’s on the hunt for his third straight solo #1 on the NACC 200. Also reaching the Top 10 is Neko Case. Neon Grey Midnight Green is her eighth solo release and her second in a row to reach the NACC 200’s Top 10. She also rises 5-1 at NACC Non-Comm.

4] Scoring this week’s highest debut on the chart is musician Gabi Gamberg, who records as Daffo. Hailing from the suburbs of Philadelphia, they now call Los Angeles home. After two EPs, comes Gamberg’s debut full-length album, Where The Earth Bends. The album jumps onto the NACC 200 this week at #33, giving us our very first opportunity to feature them on our Weekly NACC Chart Recap.

5] Taking most-added honors this week is the Brooklyn trio Say She She. Formed in 2019. The band has released three studio albums, including their latest, Cut & Rewind. They collect 56 Top 10 Adds this week and debut just one spot behind Daffo on the NACC 200 at #34. And like Daffo, we’re pleased to get to feature them here for the very first time.

GENRE CHART HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

1] Rising from 2-1 on NACC Singles this week is Stephen Bruner, who records as Thundercat. The NACC 200 chart-topping musician is back with his double-sided single “I Wish I Didn’t Waste Your Time” b/w “Children Of The Baked Potato” feat. Remi Wolf. The single also edges ahead from 25-24 on the NACC 200.

2] The legendary Buddy Guy has the longest active #1 streak on any NACC Chart this week as he logs a ninth week atop NACC Blues with his 20th LP, Not Done With The Blues. Overall, the NACC Blues Chart has only seen five #1s this year. Every other NACC Chart has seen at least twice that many #1s since the year began.

3] Three acts rebound to #1 on their respective charts this week. Mac DeMarco rises back 4-1 on NACC Canadian after four weeks away. DJ and musician Lucas Hanson aka sunflwr enjoys a fourth cumulative week atop NACC Chill, up 5-1. He first reached the top in August and spent two more weeks there in September. And Adrian Quesada enjoys an impressive 11th week at #1 on the NACC Latin chart, moving up 2-1. His album is one of just a handful to have spent 10+ weeks atop any NACC Chart this year
