NACC 200 NOTABLES:
1] After reaching the NACC Top 10 twice before, and coming as close to the top spot as #2 in 2023 with their album, The Window, Chicago quartet Ratboys claims their first NACC 200 chart-topper this week. They almost grabbed that #1 last week when their sixth LP, Singin’ To An Empty Chair, soared from 24-2. In addition to finishing their climb to #1 on the NACC 200, they enjoy the highest point total for any #1 album so far this year. They also complete the NACC Hat Trick, as they climb from #2 to #1 on both the NACC NEXT and NACC Non-Comm Charts as well.
2] While no new albums reach the top tier this week, two artists who were in the Top 10 the week prior find themselves back there this time around. After tumbling 3-12 last week, Brooklyn four-piece, Geese, flies back into the Top 5, up 12-5, with their fourth LP, Getting Killed. This is the first time a record has ever rebounded into the Top 5 from outside the Top 10 before. Also rising back into the top tier this week is Arlo Parks. Fresh off a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Parks’ single “2SIDED” rises 11-10. It’s the first single ever to spend four weeks inside the Top 10.
3] After claiming the most-added album last week, Philadelphia-based quartet Remember Sports wastes no time accomplishing another noteworthy feat on the NACC Charts. Their fifth album, The Refrigerator, earns this week’s highest debut on the NACC 200, opening at #20.
4] This week’s most-added album comes from musician Sam Beam, who records as Iron & Wine. The South Carolina native released his first album in 2002. In addition to three collaborative albums since then, Beam will release his eighth solo studio album, Hen’s Teeth, on Friday. NACC stations got the LP early and clearly are pleased they did. In addition to collecting 63 Top 10 Adds, Iron & Wine opens on the NACC 200 at #53.
GENRE CHART HIGHLIGHTS:
1] In addition to moving back into the Top 10 this week on the NACC 200, Arlo Parks finds herself back at #1 on the NACC Singles Chart as well with “2SIDED”. It’s the song’s fourth cumulative week at #1. Her third album, Ambiguous Desire, will be out April 3 and also includes “Heaven,” which is also #15 on NACC Singles this week.
2] Sister and brother duo Paulina and Raul Sotomayor, who record simply as Sotomayor, find themselves atop two NACC Charts this week. Their first album in six years, WABI SABI, also celebrates the band’s 10th anniversary. They jump 8-1 at NACC Latin and leap 12-1 to top NACC World this week.
3] Two other acts make significant moves to the top of other NACC genre charts this week. Toppling heavy metal legends Megadeth from atop the NACC Heavy perch are metalcore quartet Converge. No small potatoes themselves, Converge are more than 35 years into their career with their 11th LP, Love Is Not Enough. They rose 8-1 this week. And jumping 7-1 at NACC Folk to overtake Mavis Staples for the crown is Colorado singer-songwriter Emily Scott Robinson with her fifth release, Appalachia.
