NACC 200 NOTABLES:
1] Jack White has really had no serious challenger to his NACC 200 Chart crown thus far, holding a large lead during his first three weeks at #1. His seventh solo album, Frozen Charlotte, earns a fourth week on top this week and again enjoys a comfortable lead. But new challengers are exploding up the chart toward him. Which means next week could get very interesting.
2] One of next week’s challengers for #1 will be Los Angeles trio Cheekface, which formed in 2017. Their sixth LP, Podium, becomes their fourth straight Top 10-peaking album on the NACC 200 by soaring from 11-2 on the chart this week. And believe us when we tell you, the band knows and is paying attention. They responded to last week’s chart on our Instagram page and expressed their pride for their ‘self-released’ badge (as well they should). And we love that.
3] Another immediate candidate for #1 next week is the juggernaut third LP for Pasadena native Phoebe Bridgers. It’s been six years since her previous solo LP, Punisher. She did release a very well-received album with Julien Baker & Lucy Dacus as boygenius in 2023. But her new album, Lost Weekend, is hoping to score her second solo NACC 200 chart-topper and shows just how much College & Non-Comm Radio likes Phoebe. The album scores the second-highest debut ever on the NACC 200 this week, opening at #3. Only The Black Keys have debuted higher (#2 in 2019). And this is just the third album ever to debut inside the Top 5.
4] As if that’s not enough, Phoebe Bridgers enjoys more notable successes this week. She also collects 83 Top 10 Adds to easily score this week’s most-added album, two dozen adds ahead of the next closest album. And she immediately debuts at #1 on the NACC NEXT Chart.
5] The third album reaching the NACC Top 10 this week comes from prolific English musician Robyn Hitchcock. Almost inexplicably, we’ve never had the opportunity to feature Hitchcock here. In his nearly 55-year career as a solo musician and as a member of The Soft Boys, The Egyptians, and The Venus 3, Hitchcock has close to 30 studio albums. And now his 25th LP, The Confuser, becomes his first Top 10-peaking album on the NACC 200, rising 18-8.
GENRE CHART HIGHLIGHTS:
1] With Phoebe Bridgers becoming ineligible to be included on NACC Singles with the release of her full album, the band that sat behind her the last two weeks benefits from her album ‘graduation.’ Even with a decrease in points, Cage The Elephant rises 2-1 with their single, “Beaches In Tennessee.” It’s their first new music since the band left RCA and joined their new label home, Big Loud Rock.
2] By staying at #1 again this week, a trio of artists extends the record for the longest stay atop any NACC Chart in 2026. Boards Of Canada @ NACC Electronic, Vince Staples @ NACC Hip Hop, and Emmet Cohen @ NACC Jazz have all spent nine weeks atop their respective charts. They pull out of a tie with Tinsley Ellis (NACC Blues) & Death Cab For Cutie (NACC Singles), who each spent eight weeks on top. Of note, Liminal Drifter ties those two this week by earning his eighth week at #1 on NACC Chill.
3] By rebounding to #1 at NACC Blues this week with his album, Blue Collar, Chris O’Leary rights a streak he broke by losing his grip on the #1 spot two weeks ago after just one week on top. No other NACC Chart has had every chart-topper spend multiple weeks at #1. And his return to #1 gives NACC Blues that distinction again.
