Bon Iver Claims NACC Hat Trick Again in Close Race

Bon Iver enjoys a second week atop the NACC 200 with their fifth studio album, SABLE, fABLE (Jagjaguwar), though it almost didn’t happen. After taking over the top spot from Japanese Breakfast last week with a slim 23-point edge, the gap between the two bands shrinks to a mere 11 points. It’s one of the Top 5 closest battles we’ve seen for #1 since the summer of 2023. Bon Iver holds a slightly bigger lead over the #2 records at NACC NEXT (second week on top) and NACC Non-Comm (third week on top) and can secure the NACC Chart hat trick again this week.

Only one album reaches the NACC 200 Top 10 this week, and it belongs to last week’s most-added artist, Wishy. The Indianapolis band’s third EP, Planet Popstar (Winspear), collected 55 Top 10 Adds and enjoyed the second-highest debut on the NACC 200 at #64 last week. This week, they soar ahead 64-10 (the fourth biggest climb into the top tier this year) to score their second NACC Top 10 album.

This week’s biggest climber comes from Samia Finnerty, who records simply as Samia. We’ve featured her in the weekly NACC Chart Recap with her two previous LPs, and now have the pleasure of showcasing her third. The album, Bloodless (Grand Jury), soars from 186-22 on the NACC 200 as she looks for her second Top 10-peaking release (2023’s Honey was her first). Fun Samia fact: her parents are actress Kathy Najimy and singer/actor Dan Finnerty.

Scoring the highest debut of the week is Sunflower Bean. The New York trio formed in 2013 and has released four studio albums, including their latest, Mortal Primetime (their first on Lucky Number). After enjoying one of the Top 5 Adds last week, they jump aboard the NACC 200 at #25 this week. This is our second time featuring the band here after their previous release, 2022’s Headful Of Sugar, was the week’s biggest climber.

This week’s most-added record belongs to Sabrina Mae Teitelbaum, who records under the name Blondshell and earns her first feature here. Her sophomore LP, If You Asked For A Picture (Partisan), has been teasing music going all the way back to August of last year. This week, she collects 57 Top 10 Adds and debuts on the NACC 200 at #96.

Wet Leg spends a fourth week at #1 on NACC Singles with “Catch These Fists,” the first song from their second LP, moisturizer, due July 11. Three singles (out of the 67 that went for adds) reach the NACC 200 Top 30 Adds Chart this week. Tops among them is Auckland, NZ quartet The Beths. They return with “Metal,” which helps announce their new label home, Anti-. Also making the chart with new singles this week are Indigo De Souza and The Happy Fits.
